The randomness that is my world.....

My husband's sister and her husband are here for a few days, so I am much too busy showing them around the area to blog. ;-) But since I know you are all dying to hear my words of wisdom, I will share a few thoughts to tide you over until my next real post. K?

First of all, my BABY....my little boy.....turned THREE YEARS OLD on Monday! I can't even think about it too much, because it makes me want to cry. Is this how all mothers feel with their youngest? He will probably be the last too, so that makes it even harder. (Even though I dislike babies....but that is another post for another day......now that you are all mad at me for not liking cuddly wuddly babies. It takes all kinds, alright?!)

Anyway, he had a wonderful b-day, first with his grandparents who were visiting, then with his (forementioned) aunt and uncle, and then will also celebrate with a few of his pals on Saturday, over a giant race car cake. He got everything a little boy could desire........guns, tanks, race cars, a golf set, a coonskin cap, rubber snakes, a motorcycle nightlight, more cars and trucks, etc, etc.

The second thing is that I have started on my next book for the year. I posted earlier about my reading goal for 2010, and it is going better than most of my goals do. (lol) I changed a few of the titles I hope to read, but other than that, I am staying on schedule. Right now I am reading a book that I bought a year ago and never got the chance to start--When Good Kids Make Bad Choices by Elise Fitzpatrick and Jim Newheiser. I am excited to read it and gain some wisdom that I can use to help others and also store up in my "parenting bank of wisdom".....which is not very full right now. :-)

I will be back in a few days....try not to miss me too much!

WHAT was that again???

Little "Donkey Kong" is learning new words almost daily.

"Circle", "cycle" (motorcycle), "puppy", "sit" (and he points to the place where he wants you to sit :-)......

I love this age--it is so fun to see what they understand and communicate! Well, it is USUALLY fun.....

On Halloween, he learned his newest word:

"MINE!!!!"

(Fabulous......thanks, pointless*sugar-saturated*greed-encouraging holiday!)

It's ABOUT TIME!!!!!!

Two momentous accomplishments have occurred at our house in the past few weeks:

1) Donkey Kong (Little E) is finished with his pacifier! I was gone one night and my husband could not find any of the stash hidden around the house. So the poor little guy cried for 45 minutes. :-( But he went to sleep and stayed asleep. The next day, I decided to try naptime without one. And within 2 days, he went down without a fuss. (Yeah!!!!) Ahead of schedule on that one....check it off our list.

2) Luigi (Middle E) has been broken of her finger-sucking habit! It has been a long and hard road, soaked with tears. We tried the whole process about six months ago, without any luck. Then the big move came, so we laid off of it until she settled into her new life. But I finally could not stand it anymore! She has given up naps, so she would sit around the house from afternoon until bedtime every day, sucking her two fingers. It was like her fingers helped her go into a comatose state. She wouldn't do anything, just sit there.
So...with fear and dread...we dug out the "Stop the Bite" nail paint and applied it to the two offenders. It took one application and she gave them up. I seriously think she was just ready this time. Whatever the reason, I am so glad to see her smiling (or even pouting) face instead of two fingers sticking out of her mouth.

Ahh, the little things that bring excitement to Toddler World......

Look who dropped by.....

ToddlerWorld is quite the gathering place. You never know who will come by for a visit.
For example, just last week we had a visit from a gypsy princess and her dancing bear....

...King Arthur sailed in on his ship, on his way back to the Round Table...

...and the "big man on campus", Mr. Popular, decided to drop in and chat.

It is very hard to keep up with our social calendar, but somehow we survive.

Issues I Deal With As The Only Little Boy Living with Two Older Sisters

What should I be when I grow up....?

Maybe a scholar....
...or maybe a cowboy....
...perhaps a soccer coach....

.....or even a rich football player....

...or I could just resign myself to being a dress-up toy....sigh.

Q&A

Have any of you made your own baby food? Furthermore, have you figured out if it saved you money and if it did, how much? I made my own with Big E, didn't at all with Middle E, and am now contemplating it with Little E. I have not figured out the cost differences yet, so I was just wondering what others out there have done.
Also, if you have any suggestions or "recipes" :-) , let me know!! (Actually, if it were up to Little E, I think that he would eat steak and potatoes. He is a very advanced eater for 6 months!)

Another day, another outfit....

Littlest E got so many clothes when he was born! It was a blessing--but I have never seen a boy with more clothes (and this isn't even a fraction of them!) :-)

Our little scholar???

Maybe Little E will have his father's brains.....and his mother's sense of humor. :-)

That's my boy!

Little E is getting so big already! I forget with each child how fast they change and grow. He loves his Exersaucer, and has starting eating cereal (several times a day in fact :-)! ) I am blessed to have my little boy, and pray that I will have the wisdom to raise a member of the "rougher sex". Ha!!

Filling space

I didn't really have anything to post about right now, so I thought I would dig up some old pictures and post them. The first set is of our littlest E....we have always been amazed by her eyes. We have also been looking through old photo albums and showing the girls when they were born. Hopefully it will prepare them for the arrival of a new baby to the house! Only a few more weeks now.....are we ready? I really cannot say. :-)
