If only I had a superhero cape......

My son will be 3 in a month.

He is all boy....trucks, guns, Spiderman, cowboys, etc., etc.

(Of course, with 2 older sisters, there is the occasional baby doll, princess crown, and sparkly necklace thrown in for good measure.)

He and his little buddy play superhero constantly. I have to tie their sleeping blankeys around their necks, so they can fly around the house and conquer the world. It is very charming. :-)

The only problem is.....the sleeping blankey/cape creations do not hold up to the rough play of almost-three-year-old boys. So I came up with the genius idea of making a superhero cape for their birthdays, which are 2 weeks apart. Won't that be fun, running around, defeating bad guys with your best buddy by your side and your initial engraved on your back?

The only drawback is:
I DON'T SEW.

But I am plucky and resourceful and determined and a tiny bit creative....so I am hoping I can figure something out. I found this cape and this one on some other fabulous blogs, and I think I can make them work for me. :-)

I mean, if someone with fantastic sewing skills and a portable sewing machine wants to come over and keep me company, I am good with that.......but I am hoping I will succeed and have two happy superheros in a few weeks.

Maybe I will even make one for myself. Couldn't hurt my cause, could it?

My baby daddy

Just kidding about the title....I just thought it would get more attention than "It's my husband's birthday" or "I love my husband". :-)

But it IS my hubby's birthday tomorrow, and I DO love him (and he IS the father of my 3 children). He is a wonderful, patient husband, and a fabulously involved father. I could not ask for a better man! God knew exactly what I needed....thankfully, cuz I had some weird ideas about what kind of guy would be good for me. :-)

Happy birthday, honey!
Thanks for being my prince, my financial planner, my travel buddy, my voice of reason, my in-house comedian, my inspiration, my co-child rearer, my taste-tester, and my Bible answer man.
I love you!!!

It's your birthday--party for free!

Our middle child (now known on this blog as "Luigi") is having a birthday next week. And what a horrible time to celebrate her birthday! Her parents just moved her away from all of the friends, family, and favorite ice cream joints that she would normally celebrate with. What kind of birthday will this be? Hopefully she will not be scarred for life because of it......

To make the day as special as possible for her (yet maintain our non-existent party budget :-), I have been searching for places to go and things to do. I ran across this list of places that offer free birthday meals and desserts. Score! :-) This is where I found all of my restaurant deals. Have any of you done this?

So here is the plan so far:
Monday night.....free ice cream at Cold Stone
Tuesday lunch.....free kids' meal at California Pizza Kitchen
Sometime this week....free kids' meal at Sonic
And just to keep the birthday fun going, on Saturday morning...a free meal at Perkins too

And because my birthday is coming up in a week, I may try out this deal or maybe this place or just get some coffee and donuts here.....

~Happy Birthday, Big E!~

I cannot believe that our baby is 5 years old already! Yesterday was her golden birthday and she celebrated on the airplane coming home from my parents' house. I am blessed to have her in my life--and thankful that she keeps me on my toes. :-) She is my most outspoken and fearless child, my most girly daughter, and my best helper around the house. I pray that this next year of her life will be one of growth--physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Happy birthday, little princess E! We love you very much!
